The TAO Of Daniel: SELF

There is a great illusion existing among humans everywhere. It’s subtle yet obvious. It permeates every moment of being and yet it cannot be measured, categorised or even understood…

…it is the ‘individual’ or the ‘self’.

How can I know me with you? How can I know myself without another?

These are the vital questions of the Tao, as experienced by every human individual. It’s a difficult and rocky ride, filled with illusionary thoughts, doubts, ideas, projections, judgements, fears.

Yet the only approach - truly the only ‘way’ - is that of a naive innocence; a complete surrendering to that which is new and which is ‘now’; to know nothing, despite one’s years of apparent knowledge and experience.

When one’s self is not fixed, is not ‘known’ and is not per se ‘true’, then another self can be endlessly formed, time and time again.

It is like the snake who sheds her own skin in order to become herself again.

The skin was once her and now it’s not. She transcended and re-became herself. She transformed and surrendered to the nature of inevitable, endless change.

Like the river that remains the same because she’s always changing, you too are a vehicle of infinite transformation, and it is this movement and this growth that reaffirms you as ‘you’, each and every day.

The Tao, so enduring, so formless and yet so full…

…become to it and you will become to your ‘self’.
