The TAO Of Daniel: OBVIOUS

What’s interesting about the Tao (about everything in life) is how ordinary it is.

The answers to all Taoist questions are therefore so obvious that they become illusive.

It seems that as people we enjoy to struggle towards that which was never meant to be reached in the first place, whereas the only place to reach is almost always just an arm’s length away.

No less, no more.

To strive is to ignore the fruits that are gifted to us daily and free of charge.

But can one be human enough to recognise the obvious truth; to receive the presents destined for us; to live a simple, ordinary life without struggling towards something supposedly greater?

Some would say it’s human nature to climb the mountain. Perhaps.

But who’s in charge? You or the mountain?

Perhaps we shouldn’t climb, but instead let the mountain drag us up… which it will, surely enough over time.

By paying attention and taking a careful birds-eye view of things we can perceive the push and pull of such things, and let ourselves be carried naturally as (human) nature intended.

The Tao is that underlying dynamic beneath all things, rather than the thing itself; for all beings behave according to the tao, regardless of their profession, hobbies, relationships or lifestyle choices etc.

That is how the Tao unites us all - by being so elusive and yet entirely obvious at the same time.
